Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has called on Nigerians to join hands with Buhari in his effort to fight corruption and restore Nigeria’s past glory.

Addressing guests and members of the ‘Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria’ at Solab Hotel, Ikeja, during a dinner organised by the Board and Body of Fellows of Institute in honour of their immediate past Registrar, Mr. Adeyemi Marapedun, Prince Eze Madumere urged them to take the lead in Mr. President’s ‘Change campaign” by conducting themselves in such a manner that presents them as credible leaders with integrity.

Imo Deputy Governor who is a Fellow of the Institute averred that the Institute and its members have an urgent task of helping to change the face of corporate governance by insisting on best practices wherever they find themselves whether in private or public sector.

He therefore warned that Nigeria can only make progress when square pegs are put in square holes thereby urging them to ensure that the right people with the right knowledge are given the right task.

He also hammered on the need for leaders to have good conscience and eschew corruption at whatever level.

His words; “if a leader is corrupt and is seen by his subordinates as corrupt, it will give the junior officers the impetus to engage in such with impunity. This is because when the Head, who is supposed to lead the way, is already enmeshed in corruption, he definitely lacks the moral justification to call his subordinates to order. What is working in Nigeria is a function of integrity and zero tolerance to corruption stance of President Buhari”.

While congratulating Mr. Adeyemi Mapaderun for distinguishing himself during his eight years of two terms serving as the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute, he charged Adeyemi’s successor to break all his predecessor’s records. Throwing more light on this statement while speaking to the news men, he said any organization that is static and lives in its past glory is not a progressive organization.

The event witnessed the presence of the National Publicity Secretary of All Progessives Congress, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who was the chairman of the occasion, past Presidents of the Institute, Rev. Itia Otabor, FSM, Chairman, Board and Body of Fellows, members of the Institute and other high profile personalities.
