Pray for Nigeria, Ugwuanyi charges PFN

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has called on the
Pentecostal Fellowship of NIGERIA to continue to galvanize its
membership into a strong prayerful group whose activities would help
place the nation on the path of probity and sustainable growth.

The governor spoke yesterday in Enugu when he received the leaders of
PFN led by its National President, Dr. Felix Omobude, at the
Government House, Enugu and pledged his administration’s support to
the church in its effort to ensure that the work of God continues to
flourish in the state.

The state’s chief executive noted that the responsibilities placed on
shoulders of leaders and the pressure to deliver the expectations of
the people are immense, assuring that with source of power from God
and the support and prayers of the church that they would surely
succeed.

Governor Ugwuanyi observed that the PFN as a body comprising over 286
denominations had made and continues to make very positive and
significant contributions to the development of the society through
its unrelenting propagation of faith and promotion of values and
principles that lead to the betterment of the society.

The governor urged the body to continue in its worthy path and to
intensify its efforts to ensure that she remained the notable force
and voice that it has become in the socio-economic life of the
society.

The leader of the group, Dr. Omobude informed the governor that he
was on a nationwide tour of various fellowships locations to identify
tasks ahead in the church with a view to improving on them.

He noted that the church is the umbrella organization of all the
Pentecostals in the country, adding that it is the fastest growing
church in Nigeria. According to him, in every city or town or
village, on all gatherings, the church is over the place.

The clergy observed that associated with this fast growth are
challenges of managing the growth. He added that he was in the state
to synergize and strengthen up a common ground with the state
government with a view to enhancing the church’s values for the future
in the state.

He commended Governor Ugwuanyi for his kind disposition to the PFN by
appointing members of the church in his cabinet.

Dr. Omobude also thanked the governor for creating an enabling
environment for the church to thrive in Enugu State and for the
indices the governor had put on the ground for good governance.

The clergy recalled that because of poverty that he could not have
gone to school but for a good free education policy of late Chief
Obafemi Awolowo, adding that this single policy touched on the lives
of many others, calling on the governor to recognize that God put him
to the seat by making policies that will touch on the lives of the
people. He prayed God to give Governor Ugwuanyi grace, wisdom and all
resources he needs, for service delivery to leave his admirable
footprints behind.
