An Egyptian woman took her husband to court to seek divorce on the grounds she could commit a sin as he is away “all the time.”
The woman, in her 20s, told court in the capital Cairo that she had seen her husband only about six months although they have been married for nearly 12 years.
She said just after their marriage, her husband travelled to Saudi Arabia and promised to take her and their little daughter to the Gulf Kingdom.
“Every time I ask him to honour his promise, he gives me 1,000 excuses… he comes to visit us every three or four years…I have been patient for the sake of our daughter,” the unnamed woman told court, according to local newspapers.
“But life has become difficult in Egypt and I just can’t stand it anymore… I am afraid of making a mistake that will anger my God.”
Newspapers said the husband accused his wife of demanding a divorce to take his money after he deposited his savings in the bank in her name. But the judge sided with the wife and decided to split the couple, they added. From Emirates247.com.
