Abia House Speaker seeks support for Ikpeazu

The newly inaugurated speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Barr. Martins Okechukwu Azubuike, has called on Abians to throw their weight behind the programme of transformation recently embarked upon by Governor Okezie Victor Chibuikem Ikpeazu Ph.D.

Speaking on the occasion of his home coming at the civic hall umuomita Mbawsi, which took place recently, Azubuike urged Abians to be patient with the Governor to embrace and key into his five cardinal programme of Agriculture for massive job creation, aggressive road rehabilitation, quality education, industrial revolution and adequate security. He also harped on the need for all to see the Governor as the political leader of all Abians in general and not for a particular tribe or section of Abia State.

Impressed by the political sagacity displayed by the Governor in flagging – off the rehabilitation and construction of seven major roads at the commercial nerve centre of the state, Aba, the speaker aremed that he is compelled to applaud the laudable gesture. He equally expressed satisfaction that Governor Ikpeazu has taken a bold step toward providence on economic boom by slashing his salary and those of his political appointees by 50%.

On his eventual emergence as the speaker of 6th Assembly of Abia State, Azubuike appreciated God Almighty who out of nothing made him what he is today as the number three citizen of the State. While imploring God for the gift and grace of his wisdom, to enable him pilot the affairs of the legislative arm of the government, he thanked all those who in one way of the other contributed toward his victory and subsequent election as speaker.
He then promised that the legislature under his leadership will endeavour to make good laws for the day to day running of the state to greater heights. Among dignitaries who attended the thanksgiving service, include Hon. Chinanu Ogbunamiri, a prominent PDP stalwart, T.C Chairman, Isialangwa North L.G.A, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, the political leader of Isialangwa North, Chief Chukwu Nwachukwu (Urichindere ndi ngwa) Comr. Okechukwu Charles, the Secretary General Abia Youth Assembly, among others, witnessed the occasion.
