FIFA officials have been arrested in a dawn raid at a five-star hotel by Swiss authorities this morning, at the request of the US Department of Justice, which is investigating charges of corruption.
The arrests were made as representatives from FIFA’s member associations gathered in Geneva ahead of their presidential election. The unnamed officials face extradition to the US.
Sources however said Blatter was not among those arrested.
