ABUJA- AHEAD of the February 14 Presidential election, Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN yesterday said that the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, President Goodluck Jonathan will win the election with three million votes, just as it stressed that he will win in the troubled state of Borno State.
Addressing Journalists in Abuja yesterday, Director of Operations, TAN, Mr. Ben Chuks Nwosu, who noted that the outcome of the presidential election would be determined by votes of eligible Nigerians and not by crowd present at rallies, said that the bulk votes would also determine the election and not propaganda or euphoria of people at rallies, adding that most people who were always present at rallies do not have Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs.
Nwosu who noted that he has attended the presidential rallies of PDP especially in the north, said people of the region were rooting for President Goodluck Jonathan, just as various groups made up of the Organised labour, women, youth, transport industry, Students, Youths, Market women, Artisans, Elders, Business groups, among others have queued up in support for Jonathan who he described as the transformation agent.
According to him, Jonathan’s performance was based on statistics presently being presented to Nigerians, with the opposition is counting on block votes at regional level, adding that the All Progressives Congress, APC would be shocked at the various blocks that would emerge in support of President Jonathan.
Nwosu who predicted that President Jonathan will win landslide victory in the North Central, South South and South East, said, “I think that statistics and bloc votes will determine this election, not euphoria or crowd at campaign grounds. The truth is that whatever figure that is placed on the table on the day of the election is what will determine the winner of the election and not the number of people that have collected their PVCs. Gombe people are in support of the president, President Jonathan has a lot of followers in Adamawa, Borno, Jigawa snd others states of the North east.”
Nwosu, a former Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly who noted that his prediction was based on the achievements of President Jonathan in the last four years, however listed the areas of agriculture, transport, aviation, water resources, education, economy.
He said, “Even the blind can see what the president has done to transform these sectors. We are convinced that General Buhari and the APC cannot win the election with only their organized crowd at campaign grounds. I can assure you that the organized Labour, women, youths, the transport sector, aviation and agric sector will give Mr president their bloc votes.
“The civil servants forms a block, they are the drivers of the trans formation agenda, they have the incontrovertible records of performance, they were the one who gave us the facts from their various reports and you are all witnesses to the amazing performance of the Jonathan administration.
Nwosu also said the transportation industry has also taken a position of favour to a Jonathan Presidency, today with the 20,000 added nylon tarred roads in across the country, their vehicles are no longer making regular visits to mechanics due to bad road, adding, “Wait for the election proper and the women, youth, students, transporters, physically challenged and other groups deliver block vote to President Jonathan and the party, and we at TAN are proud of Nigerians for appreciating the massive development of thge President so far.”
According to him, president Jonathan has always insisted on campaigning with a manageable crowd even from the members of his party which were limited to what the security could control as against the mammoth crowd that follows the APC candidate without control, even as he stressed that the zonal rallies which TAN organized before the campaigns have watered the ground for a smooth sail by the president, adding that what TAN has done was to publicise and sell the achievements of President Jonathan.
Nwosu said that despite claims and allegations that the PVCs were distributed more in the north where it was believed that APC has stronghold than any other parts of the country, President Jonathan’s achievements in his first term was good enough to earn him a second term, adding, “I believe that this election may be close, but we care convinced that Mr. President will win his second term mandate because he has a record of performance.” Courtesy: Vanguard
