Gideon Oyibo and the Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), South-South, Bishop God-do-well Awomakpa when the CAN Chairman visited the governor in Government House, Asaba, Wednesday.

The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has advised political office seekers to pursue their ambitions peacefully and avoid desperation and acts capable of triggering crisis and violence.
Governor Uduaghan, receiving the Delta State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Gideon Oyibo, and his executive on a courtesy visit on Wednesday, stated that it was important that aspirants for political offices have in mind that their desire was to serve the people and should not take their aspirations as do-or-die affair as power belongs to God.
According to him: “Aspirants should not see their ambition as a do-or-die affair.
“There is too much desperation among the political class today and most of them don’t care what happens to their political opponents or the people around them as long as they achieve their ambition.
“It has been a challenging period for me.
“I have been accused of so many things.
“I have been a victim of internet terrorism.
“What bothers me most is when people resort to violence to achieve their ambition.
“I want to appeal to political aspirants to ensure that there is no violence.
“Somebody must not die for you to get to any position.
“You must not destroy lives, cars or properties because of political position.
“Remember it is only God that gives position and what he has ordain will surely come to pass.”
While commending the members of CAN for their credible performance during the last local government election in the state, Governor Uduaghan noted that they added credibility to the electoral process and urged them play similar roles in future elections.
He also asked them to continue to pray for the nation to overcome the Boko Haram scourge, declaring that President Goodluck Jonathan was handling the insurgency with the seriousness it deserved.
Rev. Oyibo had on his part decried the attitude of political aspirants who were so desperate for positions and use violence as a means to achieve their aims, urging them to follow the stipulated rules and guidelines.
Meanwhile, an ultra-modern executive chambers inside the New Government House, built and furnished by the Uduaghan administration, was on Wednesday dedicated.
The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the South South, Bishop God-Do-Well Avwomakpa, led a team of men of God, including Rev. Oyibo, to perform the dedication ceremony.
Uduaghan; his wife, Roli; the Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama (SAN); commissioners; and top government functionaries witnessed the ceremony.
