Kogi State University lecturer, Professor Justin Rotimi Otitolaiye who was kidnapped on Saturday, a day after he was conferred with a professorial status, has been reported dead.
Daily Review Online gathered that Prof. Otitolaiye, who hails from Kabba, Kogi State, has been having some running battles with some of the lecturers in his department.
He was conferred with a professorial status on Friday, kidnapped on Saturday and his bullet-ridden body recovered on Sunday.
Lamenting his death on his Facebook page, his former class mate at St Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin Prince Biodun Bayo said: “The alleged manner of his death was quite puzzling. I was told that he was conferred with Professorial status last Friday, kidnapped on Saturday and his bullet ridden body was found on Sunday. What a terrible way to die and what an ungrateful way to say thank you to a man who devoted his entire life to knowledge development.
“No matter the reason for this criminal and heinous action by those behind it, Otis, you remain a star in our hearts. RIP Justin Rotimi Otitolaiye. You demonstrated that hard work, perseverance and consistency in learning has it rewards in excellence. Nobody can kill you in our hearts. May the Lord receive your soul and serve as father to your children and husband to your wife. The set of ’82 at St. Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin, Kwara State and the rest of the school during your sojourn there will forever remember your good deeds.”
