At a time when the Nigeria’s power sector is set to enter the much awaited Transitional Electricity Market (TEM), the Honourable Minister of Power, Prof Chinedu Nebo is sets to join other industry stakeholders to address challenges facing the industry at the 4th WorldStage National Electricity Power Conference (WNEPC) on Thursday, October 23, in Lagos.
The minister who will soon be advised by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission ( NERC) to make the statutory declaration that the Nigeria’s electricity market had entered TEM, will present a paper, ‘Federal Government Commitment To Address Post-Privatisation Challenges’ at the annual conference with the theme: Addressing the Challenges of Post-Privatisation.
Moreover, the Chairman/CEO of NERC, Dr. Sam Amadi, will present a paper, ‘Commitment of NERC Towards Regulation and Effective Consumer’s Right On Electricity Supply Chain’ at the WNEPC 2014.
In view of several issues bothering the transmission sub-sector of industry, including the right funding model, the Managing Director/CEO, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Mr Mack Kast will be at hand to present a paper on ‘TCN: Meeting The Electricity Transmission Capacity For Nigeria Post-Privatization’.
Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State whose state has achieved commendable progress in power generation through Independent Power projects (IPP) for economic development will also share his dream and experience with the highly networking forum.
To do justice to the theme of the conference, Professor Adeola Adenikinju (PhD Economics), University of Ibadan, Nigeria will make a presentation on ‘Nigeria’s Electricity Power Sector’s Post Privatisation Challenges: The Way Forward’.
According to Mr Segun Adeleye, President/CEO, World Stage Limited, the organisers of the confab, the forum is coming at a time when the sector is entering a critical phase of the electricity reform agenda.
“We are mindful of the development in the power sector since the privatisation of government assets last year, which informs the theme of WNEPC 2014, for us to be part of solution to move the industry forward,” he said.
