The whirlwind of impeachment sweeping across Nigeria’s political landscape blew in Ebonyi on Monday, as members of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Monday morning impeached the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr Chukwuma Nwazunku.
18 out of the 24 members of the House allegedly carried out the impeachment of the speaker.
The members lifted the impeachment of the three members of the house on suspension before carrying out the impeachment.
The three members are Frank Onwe, Eni Uduma Chime and deputy speaker, Blaise Orji.
Frank Onwe moved the motion for the Speaker’s impeachment which was seconded by the minority leader, Enyi C. Enyi.
Thereafter, Eni Uduma Chima representing Afikpo South West moved the motion for election of Helen Nwaobasi representing Abakaliki South state constituency.
The motion was seconded by Jerry Obasi.
