It was weeping and wailing along Ibadan-Ife express road on Monday as a pregnant woman and two other persons were killed in a ghastly auto crash involving a commercial taxi cab, an articulated lorry and another vehicle.  Six others people sustained varied degrees of injuries in the accident.

Eye witness accounts revealed that the multiple accident which occurred in the morning in front of a fuel station at New Iyana Agbala area along the ever-busy Ibadan-Ife Expressway happened when the driver of the taxi cab tried to cross over to the fuel station from the other side of the expressway to pick a passenger.  The cab reportedly ran into the articulated vehicle travelling from the Ife end of the expressway.

According to sources, the trailer over ran the taxi cab and in the process killed two of the passengers inside the cab on the spot.

It was gathered that one of the victims reportedly who initially sustained injuries later died at the nearby private hospital where they were rushed to.
Confirming the incident, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Egbeda Unit Commander, Mr. Abiodun Akinlade, told inquisitive newsmen that the victims died before any medical attention could reach them.

The FRSC chief who described the accident as multiple gave the particulars of the vehicles involved as a Micra Saloon car with registration number YNF 963 AA, a Toyota Siena, registration number XD 451 KAK and Volkswagen FST 452 BH.

He however remarked that the articulated vehicle that caused the accident did not wait, saying that the long vehicle first hit the commercial Micra Saloon car before hitting other vehicles.

Akinlade stated further that the pregnant woman was about crossing the road when she was hit by one of the vehicles.

He stated that the corpses of the dead had been deposited at the Oluyoro Catholic Hospital, Apomu, in Osun State.
