APGA Crisis: Ogene Hails Umeh’s Appeal Court Victory

Hon. Victor Ogene, member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has hailed the Appeal Court Victory of Chief Victor Umeh, national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which affirmed his leadership of the party and nullified the eailier judgement of Justice Abdulkadir of the Federal High Court Abuja, that favoured Chief Maxi Okwu, as “a victory for the party”.
Ogene, who received the news in far- away -Brazil, (where he is part of the SuperSport’s team to the World Cup), in a statement congratulating Chief Umeh and Alhaji Shinkafi, National Secretary of the party, noted that “the several litigations were not only divesionary but also a dis-service to Ndigbo, adding that the duggedness of the duo in fighting for the survival and protection of the intergrity of the party stand them out as dedicated and commited leaders who should be emulated by all true members of the party”.
The Lawmaker, who is also the deputy chairman, Media & Public Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, in an earlier media statement over the leadership crisis in APGA, had stated that “Chief Umeh has worked very hard over the last decade to ensure the survival and success of the party.Thus, he should be supported and encouraged by all to complete his tenure in peace, ” as he called on” the respected clergy and other well – wishers of the party to interven in the matter the way they did between former Governor Peter Obi and Umeh, in order to bring this crisis to an amicable resolution”.
While reinterating that “APGA does not merely represent a political platform, but a movement and brotherhood of Ndigbo, which should be guarded and guided jealously by all who believe in the true development of the Igbo race”, he stated that the party more than any other time, needs the commitment and dedication of everyone to consolidate on the recent gains of the party”, which he said could only be actualised in an atmosphere of true peace in the party especially within its leadership.
Ogene further urged well meaning members of APGAnj to team up with Umeh in his quest to reposition and move the party forward so as to ensure resounding victories in the forthcoming general elections.
