Oyo State Governor, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi has charged Nigerians to imbibe the doctrine and philosophy of the Boys’ Brigade which are centred on service, integrity and commitment for the society to be a good place to live in.
The governor who gave the charge in Ibadan on Monday during his investiture as the Grand Patron of the state council of Boys’ Brigade held in his office, commended the organization for striving very hard to ensure a better society through the conducts and activities of its members.
“I like to specially commend the philosophy and doctrine of the Boys’ Brigade which are service, integrity and commitment. I am sure that the society will be better off if these philosophy and doctrine are allowed to permeate the whole of the society,’’ he said.
While expressing appreciation for the honour done to him by the organization through his investiture as the first Grand Patron in the state, more so at a time that his administration was clocking three years in office, Governor Ajimobi assured them of his commitment to the office.
“I want to assure you that in me, you have a very committed Grand Patron, a Grand Patron that will be an epitome of commitment in all his ways, conducts and philosophy,’’ he said.
The governor also thanked members of the State Executive Council whom, he said, had jointly worked with him to make him deserving of the honour.
He pledged that the new operational bus which the organization requested for would be presented to it before the end of June.
Speaking earlier, the State President of the organization, Prof. Adedoyin Soyibo, had described the Governor Ajimobi as a man of history, being the first governor to be decorated as the Grand Patron of the Boys’ Brigade.
He noted that the Ajimobi administration had done a lot for the youth and youth organizations in the state, citing the 200 per cent increase in the allocation to youth organizations and the employment of youths through the Youth Empowerment Scheme of Oyo State (YES-O).
“I want to recall what your administration, through your instrumentality, has done for youth organizations in Oyo State. You have increased the allocation to the youth organizations by over 200 per cent; you have upgraded the Ajoda Youth Village where they meet; you have also done a lot of things to build the youth in the state.
“You have provided employment to the youths through the YES-O programme; that is something immense, and you have won for yourself a lot in the hearts of the youths in the state. You are indeed a man of success,’’ Prof. Soyibo remarked.
