Respite came the way of workers in Oyo State on Thursday as Governor Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi announced that his administration has already set up a committee on Enhanced Salary Scheme for them assuring that the package would be ready before the end of this month.
Addressing the May Day rally held at Lekan Salary Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Governor Ajimobi also called on the Federal Government and the entire Nigerians to rise up and do everything humanly possible to ensure the release of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls in Borno State insisting that nothing is too great to sacrifice towards this end.
The governor told the jubilant workers that the Committee on Salary Enhancement Scheme has the mandate to come up with the desirable percentage increase adding that immediately the Committee submits its report, “government will implement it within one week.”
Ajimobi who had earlier reeled out his administration’s efforts towards improving the welfare of workers in the state submitted that the workers are the engine wheel for development in the state without which the state could not exist.
“Any government that underplay the role of its workers is on its way to peril and stagnation, the Governor stated.
