The Police this morning in Abuja, sealed up the Nicon Luxury Hotel, and barred Dino Melaye from organizing an anti-corruption colloquium scheduled to hold at the Hotel.
A police officer who spoke to Daily Review Online said he did not seek permit from the Police before organizing the event. “Ordinarily, nothing is wrong with organizing such events, but in the past, his group has used such events to organize protests and endanger public peace and security and that is what we are avoiding”.
It would be recalled that last week, Melaye, re-arrested after he was seized by policemen at a rally in Abuja he organized against the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, concerning her part in the ongoing N255 million scandal in the Ministry.
Melaye, who leads a group called the Anti-Corruption Network which has been revealing and attacking official corruption, was taken from his office by police officers who brandished a warrant of arrest. It is also understood that his home had previously been searched.
