Willie Obiano Campaign Forum has dismissed Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha’s relocation to Anambra State to campaign for APC candidate, Senator Chris Ngige, in the November 16 gubernatorial election in Anambra State as an exercise in futility’
National Co-ordinator of the Campaign Forum, Owelle Onyeka Mbaso who recently stormed Awka, the Anambra State capital with a large crowd of party faithful, mobilized by the 21 co-ordinators of the Forum from all the local government areas of the state dismissed Okorocha as a political lightweight whose threats do not amount to more than an empty rhetoric.
He said: “I laughed when I read Okorocha’s comment about his planned relocation to Awka. But what people ought to ask is; what is Okorocha’s political weight even in Imo State where he is the governor? Okorocha was a political wanderer for 15 years until our great party rescued him from the wilderness and we welcome his visit to take his candidate back to the wilderness. APGA will defeat APC and other parties in the coming election. Ungrateful Rochas okorocha will lose now and in 2015.”
He assured Ndi Anambra not to lose sleep over Okorocha’s comment as they were the typical rants of a man in political delirium. According to him, Anambra State is too enlightened to be led by the noose by anybody including Okorocha. “Governor Rochas Okorocha is well known for his unguarded statements that almost got himself into trouble when he once addressed former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as though there were mates. Besides, we cannot support a party that encourages the deportation of Ndigbo from Lagos. APGA is a political party that has the best manifesto for good governance,” he declared.
Owelle Mbaso also argued that Anambra State has a high number of scholars and intellectuals and cannot be expected to lower its standards to accommodate candidates with questionable backgrounds. “Our people are too enlightened to be deceived. That is why we must vote for Chief Willie Obiano and Nkem Okeke in the coming election as they represent everything that our people are known for – academic excellence, professional integrity, entrepreneurial acumen, hard work and communal spirit”, he further maintained.
In his own speech at the event which witnessed thousands of supporters, the Chairman of the Group, Engr. Henry Onyekumnaru vowed that after 8 glorious years of Governor Peter Obi’s transformational leadership, Anambra State would not be allowed to return to political undertakers again.
He said: “Chief Obiano is the most qualified candidate in the race. He has the professional competence to run Anambra. He is educationally sound and his years as an executive director in the banking sector have exposed him to the highest levels of management. We need a man who has demonstrable competence in managing human and natural resources and Obiano is the man for that.”
Engr. Onyekumnaru assured of the Campaign Forum’s readiness to mobilize the people of the state to ensure victory for Obiano and APGA in the coming election and further warned that “We should not be deceived by candidates with unstable characters to avoid mortgaging the future of our children. The forum shall continue to work assiduously in mobilizing the masses because APGA is a political party that invests in people and we believe in the principle of meritocracy”.
