A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Dutse on Tuesday ordered the remand of a PDP chieftain, Alhaji Abba Soja, in prison for failing to produce 53 suspects he took on bail.
The suspects were arrested for allegedly masterminding the violence, which occurred during a state Assembly by-election in Ringim Local Government Area on September 21.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tijjani Garba, ordered the remand of Soja because of his inability to produce the suspects, who were arrested in Sankara, for allegedly assaulting some members of the APC.
Garba said the accused, who signed and collected the suspects on bail as a surety at the police headquarters on Sept. 22, however, failed to bring them to court, in line with the bail conditions.
He said that the offence contravened the Criminal Procedure Code
