After using the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) to secure the mandate of Imolites two years ago, Political ingrate, Owelle Rochas Okorocha yesterday rewarded Ndigbo by declaring that APGA was dead and buried in Imo State.
Okorocha stated this while presenting the former officials of APGA in the Local Government and wards of the State to the National Zonal Vice Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) at the Ahiajoku conference Centre, Owerri.
He said all the Local Government and ward structures of APGA had been handed over to the APC.
He said APGA does not have a national outlook and advised the Igbos to join the new merger party which presents a way forward for Ndigbo and the nation at large.
He also set up a 21-man harmonization committee that would ensure that nobody was maginalised in the new APC.
It would be recalled that recently, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East has described APC as a party alien to the south east predicting that the newly registered political party would be rejected again in the zone the way such political parties like the defunct Action Group, Unity Party of Nigeria, Action Congress of Nigeria among others were not accepted in the zone.
PDP National Vice Chairman South East, colonel Austin Akobundu (rtd.) stated his while reacting over the telephone to the report credited to Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha of Imo state while he (Okorocha) addressed the Imo state convention in the USA and told them that Igbo political fortunes and interests would be better served in the new APC than in the PDP.
Akobundu described the alleged governor Okorocha’s view as an affront on Ndigbo whose kiths and kin were recently deported to Igbo land from Lagos, which is the stronghold of the APC.
Akobundu said: “Governor Okorocha should have first reconciled the despicable incident of deporting about 76 Nigerians of Igbo extraction from their country to their supposed homeland before making the verbose and unguided utterance which of course gave him and his new party away as an amalgamation of impostors.
