The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday summoned Senator Andy Uba, his brother, Chief Chris Ubah; Ejike Oguebego, Chief Benji Udeozor and Mrs. Tonia Nwankwu over what it termed illegal conduct of governorship primary in Anambra State.
A statement by Acting National Publicity Secretary, Tony Caesar Okeke, said they are to appear before the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party on Wednesday and show why they would not be suspended.
The statement said the PDP “condemns in the strongest possible terms the organization of a parallel primary election to elect a candidate for the November 16, 2013 governorship election in Anambra state other than the one conducted by the Party on August 24, 2013.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the only Governorship Primary election recognized by the Party was the Primary election conducted by the Electoral Panel under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema which was appointed by the Party.
“The organization of another Primary election other than the one referred to above is a clear breach of our party’s constitution and is therefore totally unacceptable and cannot be condoned. We call on the Inspector General of Police to forthwith commence investigations into the illegal procurement of sensitive party materials for the illegal governorship primary election by persons who paraded themselves as working for the PDP.
“In view of their participation in the breach of our constitution referred to above, the following persons are hereby invited to appear before the National Working Committee for a preliminary hearing at the PDP National Secretariat, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 10 am prompt to show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against them”.
