At least 32 suspects were on Tuesday arrested for various crimes by the police in Gombe.
The Gombe State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr Fwaje Atajiri, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.
Atajiri said 27 of the suspects were nabbed for allegedly terrorising innocent citizens and dispossessing them of mobile phones, jewelries and other valuables.
The spokesman said the police raided the suspects in Gombe town before shifting to the suburb.
He said they were arrested in Kagarawal, Malam Inna, Alkahira, Libya Quarters, Nayi Nawa and Bye-pass, where swords, machetes, shovels and other dangerous weapons were recovered from them.
He said three other suspects were arrested in Nasarawo Hayi, when they snatched a bag from a lady, who raised an alarm before the police came and apprehended them.
Atajiri further said that two other persons were arrested for alleged animal rustling, adding that three cows, five sheep and four goats were recovered from the suspects.
He said already the stolen cows had been released to their owners after identification by their owners.
The spokesman, however, called on the inhabitants of the state to always provide useful information to the police to reduce crime.
