It was a day of tears and wailings as family members, friends and sympathisers bade a painful farewell to beautiful lady, Mmesoma Umeora, the young woman from Awarasi Village, Uga, in Anambra State, who was reportedly killed by her ex-boyfriend.
Mmesoma’s burial followed the tragic discovery of her lifeless body after she was reported missing on Friday, October 16, 2026.
Reports indicate that the young woman was allegedly killed by her former boyfriend, identified as Chima, who is said to be from Ebonyi State, after she ended their relationship.
Chima allegedly invited Mmesoma to his residence on the day she went missing, where he reportedly killed her before stuffing her body into a sack and dumping it in a gutter along a bushy stretch of the Okigwe-Oba Expressway in Unubi community.
The incident came to light after Mmesoma’s mother reported her disappearance to the police at Umuchu Division.
Information reportedly provided by a commercial motorcycle operator subsequently helped security operatives trace and arrest the suspect.
The suspect initially denied knowing Mmesoma’s whereabouts before allegedly confessing to the crime.
The circumstances surrounding the young woman’s death have sparked grief and outrage, with the tragic incident highlighting concerns about violence linked to failed relationships.
As family members and loved ones mourned Mmesoma at her burial, the tragedy left her community grappling with the loss of a young life under disturbing circumstances.
The police investigation and any subsequent court proceedings will be crucial in establishing the full circumstances of the incident and determining the suspect’s legal responsibility.
