Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff following the resignation of Segun Ogunwuyi from the position.
The governor also appointed Mrs Aderonke Adedayo as Director-General of the state’s Due Process Office.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced in letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
Ogunwuyi announced his resignation in a letter dated October 12, 2026, stating that his decision took effect from the same day.
In the letter, he described his service to the Oyo State Government and its people as a great honour, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the administration’s achievements.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of an exceptional team that worked relentlessly to deliver this administration’s remarkable achievements,” he said.
The former Chief of Staff added that he remained proud of the administration’s contributions to the growth, development and prosperity of the state.
He also reaffirmed his loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, is among several aides to Makinde who have resigned from government in the past two months.
His departure comes as the governor moves to fill the vacancy with the appointment of Akinwole, a grassroots politician who previously served as chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission.
Meanwhile, Adedayo, who currently serves as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies, will combine her existing responsibilities with her new role as Director-General of the Due Process Office.
In announcing the appointments, Makinde congratulated the appointees and urged them to discharge their duties with loyalty, commitment and dedication to the service of Oyo State.
The governor expressed confidence in their ability to contribute to the effective running of his administration.
