Brazilian mixed martial artist and UFC flyweight Allan Nascimento has died at the age of 34 after suffering a suspected heart attack in his sleep, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced on Monday.
According to the UFC, Nascimento was found unresponsive on the morning of August 3. Despite efforts by emergency medical responders to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, the promotion expressed its condolences, saying: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Allan’s family, friends, teammates, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Nascimento, who spent his life in São Paulo, Brazil, is survived by his wife and two children.
His final appearance inside the Octagon came in June, when he lost a split decision to Mitch Raposo. During his UFC career, Nascimento compiled a record of four wins and two losses, while finishing with an overall professional MMA record of 22 victories and seven defeats.
His longtime team, Chute Boxe, paid tribute to the late fighter, describing him as a dedicated competitor and an extraordinary human being.
“We have lost a warrior, friend, dedicated competitor and extraordinary human being,” the team said in a statement posted on Instagram. “Allan inspired both on and off the mats with his determination, humility, respect and fighting spirit. His name, story and legacy will live on forever.”
Nascimento’s sudden passing has sent shockwaves through the MMA community, with fans, teammates and fellow fighters mourning the loss of one of Brazil’s respected flyweight competitors.
