Nigerian music superstar Davido has opened up about one of the most difficult moments of his early career, recalling how a viral photo of him sleeping in a hotel room left him overwhelmed with embarrassment.

Speaking about the incident, Davido said it happened just two months after he rose to stardom, during a trip to Ghana for a music performance.
According to the award-winning singer, he was welcomed by a large crowd of fans at the airport, a moment that made him realize he had become a major celebrity.
He explained that after the concert, he went to a nightclub where he met a woman and later invited her back to his hotel. Davido described it as the first time he had taken someone home after meeting them at a club.
The singer said he fell asleep after they returned to the hotel, only to be awakened by his manager, who informed him that the woman had posted a photograph of him sleeping on social media.
According to Davido, the image quickly went viral, attracting widespread criticism and online backlash.
Reflecting on the emotional impact of the episode, the singer said he felt deeply ashamed at the time.
“I almost died when a girl posted me sleeping with her and it went viral on social media,” Davido said. “If I saw a balcony that day, I would’ve jumped. I felt so ashamed at the time.”
His remarks have since sparked conversations online about celebrity privacy, the pressures of fame, and the lasting emotional effects of viral social media incidents.
