Former Anambra State Governor, Dame Virgy Etiaba, has described the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, as a symbol of good governance whose contributions to public service extend beyond partisan politics.
Etiaba made the remarks in a goodwill message to mark Obi’s 65th birthday, praising his commitment to economic revitalisation, national development and inclusive growth.
The former governor, who served with Obi in Anambra State, said his legacy of accountability, transparency and empathy for ordinary Nigerians has made him a reference point for effective governance.
According to her, Obi’s lifelong dedication to purposeful service, integrity, discipline and fiscal prudence has continued to inspire both current and future generations of leaders.
“I am pleased to join countless Nigerians and admirers globally in celebrating His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi,” Etiaba said. “Beyond his political endeavours, Mr Peter Obi has emerged as a significant voice in discussions surrounding diligence, integrity, capability and active civic engagement.”
She noted that Obi’s approach to prudent management of public resources, investment in education, healthcare and infrastructure, as well as his advocacy for equitable opportunities, had enriched public discourse and encouraged greater citizen participation within and outside Nigeria.
Etiaba described Obi’s 65th birthday as a significant milestone, saying his life and career have motivated many Nigerians, particularly young people, to pursue excellence, peaceful coexistence and national development.
She added that throughout his career in business, public service and national leadership, Obi has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to societal progress.
Offering prayers for the former Anambra governor, Etiaba wished him continued good health, wisdom and strength to sustain his contributions to governance, fiscal responsibility and Nigeria’s development.
