Save Nigeria Group USA has defended the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, saying recent comments attributed to the cleric have been taken out of context and misrepresented.
In a statement issued by its President, Stephen Osemwegie, and Media Director, Victor Onyeka Ben, the organisation said it was compelled to respond to what it described as widespread misinformation surrounding Adeboye’s remarks.
The group alleged that propagandists, rumour peddlers, fifth columnists and politically motivated individuals had deliberately distorted the cleric’s comments to advance personal and political interests.
According to the statement, the attempts to misrepresent Adeboye’s position were capable of misleading the public and creating unnecessary controversy.
Save Nigeria Group USA urged Nigerians to disregard what it described as false narratives and instead rely on the full context of the pastor’s remarks. It said the statement was intended to clarify the issues and promote accurate public understanding.
The organisation, a Nigerian diaspora advocacy group based in the United States, has over the years spoken on issues relating to governance, democracy, national unity, security, economic development and social justice in Nigeria. Through press statements and public advocacy, it has consistently called for transparency, accountability, adherence to the rule of law and constructive engagement on matters affecting the country.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to defending truth, fairness and responsible public discourse, while urging members of the public to verify information before drawing conclusions or sharing reports.
