The media office of Peter Obi has dismissed as false and fabricated the alleged 45 million primary election figures currently circulating on social media and some news platforms, claiming they were results from a purported primary election conducted by the National Democratic Congress.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by POMR spokesman, Ibrahim Umar, the office said no such primary election took place and no official figures were generated from any process involving the former presidential candidate.

According to the statement, the attention of the Peter Obi Media Office was drawn to what it described as “misleading statistics” being falsely attributed to Obi in connection with an “imaginary primary” allegedly conducted by the NDC.

The media office urged party supporters, members of the public, and the press to disregard the circulating figures, insisting they were entirely fabricated.

It added that official information concerning Obi’s political activities and engagements would only be communicated through verified and authorised channels.

The statement further accused those behind the circulation of the figures of attempting to associate Obi with fraudulent activities.

“Those behind this fraudulent figure attribution to Peter Obi are looking for partners in their fraud but they should look elsewhere not with Peter Obi,” the statement read.

The clarification comes amid heightened political activities and discussions surrounding party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
