Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), under Operation Hadin Kai, have successfully repelled attempted terrorist attacks on military positions at Azir Bridge and Banki in Borno State.

The attacks, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, were aimed at overrunning troops’ locations at Azir Bridge in Sector 2 and Banki in Sector 1. According to the military, the insurgents advanced in large numbers but were met with strong resistance from troops who quickly mounted a counter-offensive.

The military said the troops demonstrated high levels of tactical awareness and combat readiness, launching coordinated spoiling attacks that disrupted the terrorists’ formations and forced them to retreat in disarray.

The operations were further supported by close air support from the air component of Operation Hadin Kai, which played a significant role in repelling the attackers and securing the locations.

The Joint Task Force stated that the failed assaults contradict what it described as misleading propaganda and false reports circulating on some online platforms.

It maintained that troops remain firmly in control of both locations and continue to dominate the operational environment with sustained offensive operations against terrorist groups.

The military also reassured the public of its commitment to defeating terrorist threats in the North-East and restoring lasting peace to the region.

The statement was issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, on March 13, 2026.
