Atlético Madrid delivered a commanding performance to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 5–2 in their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first-leg match on Tuesday.

The match turned disastrous for Tottenham early on as goalkeeper Antonín Kinský was substituted after just 17 minutes following two costly errors that led to goals.

Marcos Llorente opened the scoring in the sixth minute after a mistake from Kinský. Soon after, Antoine Griezmann doubled Atletico’s lead when a defensive slip allowed him to finish comfortably.

Another error from Kinský gifted Julián Álvarez Atletico’s third goal in the 15th minute before Robin Le Normand added a fourth shortly after.

Pedro Porro pulled one back for Tottenham in the 26th minute, but Álvarez struck again in the 55th minute to extend Atletico’s advantage. Dominic Solanke scored Tottenham’s second goal late in the match.

The defeat marked another setback for Tottenham under interim coach Igor Tudor, increasing pressure on the manager after a series of poor results.
