Undergraduate pushed to death at campus birthday party

Tragedy struck the Federal University of Environment and Technology (FUET), Koroma/Saakpenwa, Ogoni, Rivers State, after an 18-year-old undergraduate, Ebirien Godwin, died following an incident at a birthday celebration on campus.

Godwin, who had recently been matriculated and was due to celebrate his 19th birthday in three days, was reportedly found unconscious shortly after the event. Sources said his roommates alerted his father, Mr. Emmanuel Ebirien, and urged him to come to the school immediately.

Upon arrival, Mr. Ebirien found his son unresponsive. The teenager was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors later confirmed him dead.

According to accounts relayed to the father, Godwin had attended a birthday gathering where students were splashing water on one another in a playful mood. During the activity, he was allegedly pushed, fell, and hit his head on a tiled floor. He reportedly sustained a severe injury and did not recover.

The grieving father has called for a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding his son’s death and urged authorities to ensure that anyone found responsible is held accountable.

As of the time of this report, the university management had not issued an official statement. Members of the university community and the deceased’s family continue to seek clarity over the incident.
