The Lagos State Government has begun a fresh enforcement drive against banned commercial motorcycle (okada) operations, one-way driving, and illegal roadside structures along the Lagos–Calabar coastal highway corridor.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday. He said the operation was carried out by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Taskforce as part of efforts to restore order and improve safety on major roads across the state.

According to Wahab, more than 50 motorcycles were confiscated for operating on the highway in violation of Lagos State traffic laws. In addition, 10 vehicles were apprehended for driving against traffic and have been charged to court.

The commissioner also revealed that the exercise involved the removal of shanties and makeshift structures illegally erected along the coastal highway corridor.

He stressed that the enforcement would be sustained to ensure sanity, safety, and compliance with traffic and environmental regulations across the state.
