The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as false and speculative reports suggesting that Vice President Kashim Shettima may be replaced as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s running mate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a press statement issued in Abuja on Monday, the party said it had observed a growing media frenzy around alleged plans to change the vice-presidential slot, noting that the speculation had recently escalated with the mention of specific individuals as possible replacements.

The APC described the reports as “purely speculative, untrue and utterly baseless,” urging media organisations to refrain from amplifying rumours and unverifiable claims capable of creating political tension.

The party stressed that, in line with existing laws and electoral regulations, political activities ahead of the 2027 elections remain prohibited. It said its current priority is to support President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in delivering the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to the APC, the Tinubu-Shettima administration remains focused on implementing reforms aimed at transforming the economy, promoting prosperity, and improving the living standards of Nigerians.

The party also cautioned its ministers, senior government officials and party leaders against making statements that could fuel unnecessary speculation, either deliberately or inadvertently.

It called on party members to concentrate on effective governance and strengthening public confidence in the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration.

The statement was signed by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, CON.
