In a provocative Facebook post, Ameriy Mike Arnold claimed that Reno Omokri is strategically positioning himself for the 2031 Nigerian presidential race, revealing what he describes as Omokri’s “calculating political maneuvering.”
According to Arnold, Omokri aims to be the running mate of former Nigerian anti-corruption czar Nuhu Ribadu, whom he refers to as his “California buddy.” Arnold suggested that Omokri has effectively written off the South, focusing instead on a political path that hinges on a North-West alliance—garnering Hausa-Fulani votes through Ribadu and Yoruba support via President Bola Tinubu’s influence.
Arnold accused Omokri of what he describes as opportunistic identity politics, stating that he shifts his persona depending on the audience: “born-again Muslim on Fridays, a born-again Yoruba on Sundays, and a born-again Northerner every other day.” He also criticized Omokri for downplaying his Urhobo heritage while emphasizing his Itsekiri roots.
Calling Omokri “simple, mercenary, obvious,” Arnold concluded that the former presidential aide is not confused but deliberately “calculating” his political moves.
The post has sparked heated debate online, with critics questioning Omokri’s loyalty to his ethnic roots and supporters defending him as a shrewd political strategist.
