Residents of Tsamiya village in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State were thrown into panic over the weekend as bandits abducted 11 people, including a nursing mother.

The Chairman of the Faruruwa community security committee, Yahaya Bagobiri, confirmed the attack, explaining that the bandits stormed the village on Sunday evening. He said residents had earlier alerted security personnel after spotting the movement of the bandits, but no action was taken.

“From about 7 p.m., we received information that the bandits were moving toward the community from Kogari. We immediately notified the security agencies, but they failed to act because they claimed there was no directive,” Bagobiri said.

He added that the abducted victims include a nursing mother, three married men, and seven youths.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, were unsuccessful, as his phone was switched off.

The attack came just hours after a separate incident in Yankamaye village, Tsanyawa LGA, where bandits killed a woman and kidnapped three others.
