Paris Saint-Germain won a frantic eight-goal thriller at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday, defeating Tottenham Hotspur 5–3 to strengthen their Champions League league-phase position.

Vitinha was the star of the night, scoring his first senior hat-trick, while Fabián Ruiz and Willian Pacho added goals to secure PSG’s second win over Spurs this season. The victory came despite Lucas Hernández receiving a late red card.

Tottenham’s Randal Kolo Muani struck twice against his parent club, and Richarlison also scored, but Spurs’ first Champions League defeat of the campaign dropped them to 16th in the standings.

Richarlison opened the scoring before Vitinha equalised with a thunderous strike from a short corner. Kolo Muani restored Spurs’ lead early in the second half, but PSG responded immediately through Vitinha’s second goal.

Ruiz then put the holders ahead after forcing a turnover on the edge of Spurs’ box, and Pacho extended the lead from a corner. Kolo Muani briefly pulled Spurs back into contention after capitalising on a Vitinha error, but the Portuguese midfielder completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after his shot struck Cristian Romero’s arm.

PSG closed out the match despite Hernández’s late dismissal for an elbow on Xavi Simons, celebrating a significant win on Marquinhos’ 500th appearance for the club.
