The Imo State Police Command has arrested 30 suspects for offences including armed robbery, cultism, car snatching, and unlawful possession of firearms.

Police spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the arrests were made during various operations by the Quick Intervention Team (QIT) and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS). He said the police also recovered three stolen vehicles, two motorcycles, and several arms and ammunition.

According to the police, operatives tracked and recovered a Mercedes Benz GLE 350 snatched at Ikenegbu, Owerri, after a distress call on November 7. One suspect, Adamu Sani, was arrested, while others linked to the crime are still being pursued.

On November 8, a Toyota Hilux stolen from a hotel in Rivers State and a Toyota Venza snatched by armed men in Owerri were also recovered in New Owerri. The vehicles have since been identified by their owners.

In a separate operation on November 2, two suspects were arrested along the Owerri/Aba Road with a locally made double-barrel gun and three live cartridges. The suspects confessed to belonging to a cult group and claimed the firearm had been taken from a rival group in Aba. Police say investigations are ongoing.
