President Bola Tinubu has approved a two-year extension for the tenure of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Mr. Abudulganiyu Adebomehin.

The extension, which takes effect from January 5, 2026, follows the recent transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the Presidency.

According to a statement issued by Presidential Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s decision was influenced by Mr. Adebomehin’s ongoing reforms across key sectors of the nation’s geospatial data systems.

“The President expects Mr. Adebomehin to consolidate the reforms within the next two years, focusing on national land management and administration, highway and abutting land infrastructure coordination, reclamation and erosion control programmes, and other matters of strategic national importance,” the statement read.

Mr. Adebomehin was originally appointed as the Surveyor-General of the Federation by former President Muhammadu Buhari, with his first tenure beginning on January 5, 2022.

The Presidency noted that the extension will allow continuity in critical reforms that support national development and efficient land administration.
