Former senator representing Bayelsa East, Ben Murray-Bruce, has officially announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda.
In a statement titled “Senator Ben Murray-Bruce’s Profound Defection Speech,” the businessman and politician praised President Tinubu’s economic vision, describing him as “a man driven by results, not applause.”
“I have known President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu since 1998. I know the man’s mind, his courage, and his conviction,” Murray-Bruce said. “For the first time in our nation’s history, we have a President who truly understands finance, who sees the economy not as a political slogan, but as a living organism that must be disciplined, deregulated, and allowed to breathe.”
He lauded the administration’s economic reforms, noting that while the changes have caused temporary hardship, they lay the foundation for sustainable national prosperity. He also commended the President’s appointments, citing improvements in national security, monetary stability, and foreign policy.
“The painful reforms we face today are the very foundation of tomorrow’s prosperity,” he said. “The Central Bank, now professionally steered, is stabilizing the economy, rebuilding confidence, and restoring the dignity of the naira.”
Murray-Bruce highlighted Tinubu’s infrastructural achievements, including roads, ports, and housing projects, describing them as “the arteries through which growth and opportunity now flow.”
Announcing his switch to the ruling party, he said: “I am joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), not for politics, but for progress. I believe that Bola Tinubu’s leadership, guided by courage and intellect, will deliver the Nigeria we have all dreamed of.”
He concluded with optimism about Nigeria’s future under Tinubu’s administration, declaring, “Mark my words: in the full term of eight years, Nigeria will witness phenomenal growth. I choose to stand with that vision. I choose to stand with reform. I choose to stand with the future.”
