President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on faith leaders in Nigeria to speak truth to power while offering constructive solutions that will help build a nation rooted in integrity, hard work, and compassion.
Tinubu made the appeal on Sunday in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, during the Second Plenary Meeting of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN). He was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
He urged faith leaders to continue promoting religious harmony, denouncing violence, and fostering reconciliation in conflict-affected communities to achieve sustainable peace and development.
“Religious leaders play a crucial role in shaping values, strengthening trust among citizens, and serving as a bridge for unity and moral renewal,” Tinubu said.
Commending the Catholic Church for its contributions in education, healthcare, and social welfare, the President noted that its support has been invaluable during periods of hardship, injustice, and corruption.
“I encourage you to continue speaking truth to power, not only to government but also to all sectors of society, while offering solutions that will help us collectively build a nation where integrity, hard work, and compassion define our lives,” he added.
On the economy, Tinubu said his administration had taken bold steps to stabilize the nation and implement reforms in agriculture, energy, and infrastructure to create jobs and expand opportunities for the youth. He acknowledged that results may take time but assured that reforms were designed to deliver long-term benefits and uplift citizens.
He stressed that governance is not only about growth but also about justice, fairness, and accountability, ensuring that no citizen is left behind, whether rich or poor, in urban or rural communities.
Tinubu further reaffirmed his government’s commitment to working with faith-based organizations in education, healthcare, and skills development, describing such partnerships as essential in tackling poverty, reducing inequality, and building stronger communities.
He also encouraged the Church to collaborate with government in civic education, environmental protection, and youth empowerment, so that future generations would acquire not just knowledge but also the moral values needed to strengthen society.

APC to Aregbesola: No vacancy in Aso Rock or Lagos in 2027
By Our Reporter
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the claim by former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, that his new party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), could take over Aso Rock and Lagos State Government House in 2027.
Lagos APC spokesman, Seye Oladejo, said on Sunday that the ruling party remained confident of its dominance at both federal and state levels.
“Aregbesola once held prominent positions in the progressive family, but his new political direction does not threaten the APC’s stronghold. Lagos and Nigeria are not conquered by sound bites. Our people vote for performance,” Oladejo stated.
He highlighted APC’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and reforms, insisting that Nigerians would continue to choose “consistency, credibility, and competence.”
“APC is here to stay. Movements don’t collapse because one person chooses a different political path,” he added.
