The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from reports circulating on social media claiming that the party has officially directed its members to join a new political coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) described the report as “misrepresenting” and clarified that no official position has been taken regarding any coalition arrangement.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP has not taken any official position on the issue of Coalition,” Ologunagba said.

He emphasized that the party is currently concentrating on consolidating internal unity and stabilizing its structures, as it works toward a successful National Convention aimed at repositioning the party for the task of reclaiming power in 2027.

Ologunagba, however, acknowledged that the PDP remains open to collaborations with like-minded individuals and groups committed to rescuing Nigeria from what he described as the “rudderless and insensitive APC-led administration.”

“As a major opposition party with a strong presence and bond with Nigerians across the country, the PDP restates its openness to working with other well-meaning citizens in the collective effort to rescue our nation,” the statement read.

The party also expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their continued loyalty and assured that preparations were underway to reactivate the PDP’s “winning ways” ahead of the next general election.
