There is mounting concern within the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State following the defection of Dr. Jude Emecheta, a trusted ally of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Emecheta, who recently resigned from his role as Soludo’s Senior Special Adviser on Administration, has aligned with Senator Uche Ekwunife, APC’s deputy governorship candidate. Ekwunife is running alongside Nicholas Ukachukwu in the November 8, 2025 governorship election.

A former Managing Director of the Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA), Emecheta reportedly left APGA after being denied the Anambra South Senatorial ticket, allegedly due to the influence of prominent businessman Sir Emeka Offor.

Known as the former coordinator of all APGA support groups in the state, Emecheta confirmed his move to the APC, stating he would speak publicly “at the appropriate time.” He has officially registered in his Ozubulu Ward 4, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.

His defection is said to have sparked a flurry of emergency meetings within APGA, amid fears that other loyalists of Governor Soludo may soon follow.
