The Department of State Services (DSS) has finally allowed the family and legal team of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to visit him on Friday. This decision came after increasing pressure from his family and legal representatives.

Earlier, Kanu’s lead attorney, Aloy Ejimakor, had raised concerns, stating that both his legal team and Kanu’s family had been denied access to him at the DSS headquarters in Abuja.

However, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the younger brother of the IPOB leader, confirmed after their visit that they were granted access to see Nnamdi Kanu.

Speaking with Vanguard, Prince Kanu appealed to the DSS to adhere to court orders that allow the family and legal representatives to visit Kanu twice a week. He stressed that denying them access not only undermines the legal process but also tarnishes Nigeria’s reputation on the global stage.

Prince Kanu further emphasized that his brother, Nnamdi Kanu, is not a problem for Nigeria but a part of the solution. He urged the Federal Government to ensure that the DSS complies with the legal directives surrounding his brother’s detention.
