Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has received the report from the Administrative Panel of Enquiry investigating the financial activities of 18 impeached Local Government Chairmen in the state. The panel, set up in December 2024, revealed that ₦96 billion was either mismanaged or diverted to private accounts between September 2023 and November 2024.
The panel’s Chairman, Solomon Imohiosen, disclosed that forensic investigations uncovered significant irregularities in the financial activities of the local governments. It found that ₦95 billion was received from the Joint Allocation Account Committee (JAAC), but no meaningful projects were undertaken to justify the funds.
The report also confirmed that over ₦10 billion was fraudulently diverted under the guise of “Security, Environment, and Training,” with the money transferred to political figures and companies.
The panel’s findings implicated both the impeached local government chairmen and former Governor Godwin Obaseki, along with other political leaders in the state. Governor Okpebholo has vowed to petition the EFCC based on the report’s recommendations.
