The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has refuted reports circulating about the reinstatement of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), clarifying that the unit remains dissolved.
A statement released on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated:
“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to address the false rumours and misinformation about the return of SARS with reformed rules. The Special Anti-Robbery Squad, which was disbanded on October 11, 2020, remains dissolved.”
The statement further stressed that SARS is not resuming operations, as some have speculated, and urged the public to be cautious about recent claims of a reformation and new rules of engagement.
