Former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate in 2023 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi has expressed his deep sorrow following the recent attacks on the communities of Amagu, Amaokwe, and Umunesha in Nkalaha, Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. According to Obi, the brutal invasion has led to the tragic loss of at least 15 innocent lives, with several others still missing.

In a statement released today, Obi condemned the attacks as part of a growing pattern of violence that continues to destabilize Nigeria. He described the destruction of lives and property as a “flagrant affront to our collective humanity” and a serious threat to the peace and stability that Nigerians hold dear.

“I have just been informed of yet another unpleasant news of the recent attacks on the communities of Amagu, Amaokwe, and Umunesha in Nkalaha. This brutal invasion has led to the tragic loss of at least 15 innocent lives, with many others still unaccounted for,” Obi said in his statement. “This atrocity is not an isolated incident but part of a disturbing pattern of violence that continues to plague our nation.”

The former presidential hopeful extended his condolences to the families of the victims and the entire Nkalaha community. “Your pain is our pain, and your loss serves as a stark reminder of the urgent work required to prevent such tragedies from recurring,” he added.

Obi called on Nigeria’s security agencies to act swiftly and decisively, stressing the importance of bringing the perpetrators to justice without delay. “We cannot and will not tolerate impunity,” he stated. “The safety of our citizens is paramount, and our security forces must protect every Nigerian, regardless of location or status.”

In addition to urging security agencies to take action, Obi appealed to community leaders, stakeholders, and citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement. “We must stand united against these agents of chaos and work together to restore peace and security in our land,” he said.

Obi concluded his statement with a heartfelt tribute to the victims, saying, “May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may we find the strength to forge a path toward a more secure and harmonious Nigeria.”

The tragic events in Ebonyi State have once again underscored the urgent need for enhanced security measures and greater cooperation between communities and law enforcement to prevent further violence.
