Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Special Offences Court has dismissed an application by Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), challenging the court’s jurisdiction in a case involving charges of abuse of office amounting to $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion.

In his ruling on Tuesday, Justice Oshodi affirmed that the court has the authority to hear the case. He further stated that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had sufficiently established the court’s territorial jurisdiction on counts eight to 26, based on the evidence provided in the case file.

However, the court struck out counts one to four of the charge, which were related to abuse of office.
