Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has accused his political opponents of instigating the current political crisis in a bid to control the state’s resources. He pledged to continue using these resources responsibly for the benefit of the people.
Fubara made these statements while speaking at Omega Power Ministries (OPM) Worldwide during the 51st birthday celebration of General Overseer Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, as well as the church’s 18th anniversary at its headquarters in Mbodo, Aluu, near Port Harcourt.
In a message conveyed by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara urged the congregation to pray for his administration’s focus and effectiveness in governance.
“There is a reason for this crisis, and it revolves around the control of Rivers State’s resources,” Fubara stated. “These resources belong to you, and we are committed to ensuring they are used wisely for the improvement of Rivers State.”
He emphasized the importance of prayer, stating, “What you owe us is just one thing: continue to pray for us. The devil is always trying to derail those in governance.”
Fubara praised Chinyere for his philanthropic efforts and contributions to society, noting the decline in public amenities he encountered upon taking office. He commended the various educational initiatives the church has undertaken to equip children with vocational and technical skills.
“I commend you for what you are doing,” Fubara said. “Life is about giving, and those who only take will not go far. Your work in the community is invaluable, and God will continue to bless you for it.”
The Governor thanked the congregation for their support and prayers, which he credited with sustaining his administration amid challenges. He also announced a donation of N200 million to support the church’s infrastructure and development projects.
“Congratulations to this church; the General Overseer’s success is tied to your support. I am grateful to celebrate this occasion with you, especially given your unwavering prayers for our cause,” he said. “With your continued prayers, we will overcome the challenges we face.”
Fubara expressed his admiration for the church’s plans for a new TV station, pledging government support for the initiative. “Power has energized my commitment to you. I need more power for the advancement of Rivers State and the defense of humanity. Thank you for your prayers; we will not let you down.”
