Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved yet another staggering feat in his glittering career by scoring his 900th goal for club and country.

The Portugal skipper was on target against Croatia in the Nations League on Thursday night to become the first man in history to reach the astonishing figure.

His latest strike has also taken his tally to 131 goals for his country, putting further distance between him and long-time rival Lionel Messi on the all-time goalscoring charts.

Ronaldo sits in first place by some distance, with Messi in second on 838 goals from 1069 games.

His 900th goal of his career came in the 34th minute at the Estadio do Benfica, where he volleyed home from close range to make it 2-0 to the hosts after getting on the end of Nuno Mendes’ whipped in cross.

Ronaldo failed to score at Euro 2024, leading many to wonder if he should call time on his international career, but the veteran has now silenced his haters.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United icon’s incredible feat is all the more remarkable given he’s still going strong at 39 years of age.

However, the superstar insists he is not done yet and has an absurd milestone now in his sights.

Speaking to former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand on his YouTube channel, Ronaldo declared he wants to hit the magical mark of 1,000 goals.

“If I don’t have any injuries, this for me is the most important, I want that,” Ronaldo said.

“For me, the best mark that I can have in football is to reach, first, 900 goals. After, my challenge is to be at 1,000 goals.”

Brazil icon Pele is considered the highest goalscorer of all time by some, with FIFA crediting him with 1,281 goals, but it is now widely accepted that hundreds of those goals came in friendly matches.

Referencing Pele’s alleged haul, Ronaldo continued: “With one difference, all the goals that I score, they have video. So I can prove that it’s [real].”

It will take something extraordinary to crack the figure, but given what Ronaldo has accomplished in his glittering career, nothing comes as a shock.
