President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Beijing, China, for a five-day official visit starting Sunday morning.
In a social media update, Olusegun Dada, the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, shared details of the visit, including meetings with President Xi Jinping and Chinese business leaders alongside the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
Preparations for the visit were confirmed on Saturday, with the Chinese government ready to host President Tinubu following his arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, provided an overview of the visit, emphasizing its focus on enhancing economic relations and securing investments. The President will visit Huawei Technologies and the China Rail and Construction Corporation (CRCC), aiming to advance the Lagos to Kano high-speed rail project.
President Tinubu will also meet with CEOs from ten major Chinese corporations across various sectors, including technology, energy, and finance. Additionally, he will discuss and sign several memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with President Xi Jinping, covering areas such as green economy, agriculture, satellite technology, and media development.
The visit will include participation in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, where President Tinubu, as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, will speak on regional matters and contribute to discussions on peace and security.
Ngelale emphasized that the visit aims to produce tangible benefits for Nigeria, with a focus on achieving practical results and justifying the investment in the trip.
