The Ogurute Uno community, the headquarters of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area in Enugu State, has dedicated a newly built general hospital to a deity for security and protection.

The decision came after repeated acts of vandalism by hoodlums targeting the hospital. It was reported that multi-million naira worth of hospital equipment, including a brand new ambulance, children’s beds, solar panels and poles, and TV sets, were stolen.

In a viral video, a community leader speaking on behalf of the Ogurute Uno community expressed frustration over the thefts. “This is Ogurute Uno General Hospital, built for us by the government. They provided us with equipment to care for the sick in our villages, but thieves have stolen items like air conditioners, solar batteries, an ambulance bus, TV sets, wheelchairs, stretchers, ceiling fans, and children’s beds.

“We have suffered from the wickedness of man. To put a stop to this, we have agreed to hand over this hospital to the deities. If anyone is unhappy with this hospital and involved in the thefts, let the deities take care of them.”

The community also stated that they would forgive the perpetrators if the stolen items were returned promptly. Reported from @The Nation.
